Sara Roberts


Sara Roberts is part of the faculty in Experimental Sound Practices and the Center for Integrated Media. She recieved an MFA from the California College of the Arts, Oakland/ San Francisco, 1988 in Film/ Video. She worked in feature films for a decade, both picture and sound editing. Throughout the 90's she exhibited interactive installation work internationally. She began teaching at CalArts in the School of Music in 1994. In 2001/02 she was a senior researcher at the Interactive Institute in Malmö, Sweden. She was a Rockefeller Media Fellow in 2002.

Her current interests include group dynamics and group participation, game and text scores, interdisciplinary education, and new models for critique and criticism. Throughout the 80's and 90's she simulated various aspects of human behavior with computers. More recently she's been developing performative strategies and building simple devices for exploring human dynamics with people.
